Economic impact

A plant of 20MWp’s in a typical Nigerian State will generate about 30GWh per year for a 25 year period. Based on $3.48 per KWh of economic growth that is likely to result, this will equate to $100 million per year of economic growth for the state or a sustained once-off 2% increase in the size of the state’s economy to be sustained for 25 years. In real terms the plant will create $2.5 billion of economic activity over its 25 year life. This implies that the investment will be recovered in 1 year, in terms of downstream economic growth.
